ICON Boot Camps for Production Personnel

Basic and Advanced Boot Camps for Production Personnel return during The Precast Show®. The camps provide interactive learning with opportunities to visit The Precast Show and an exclusive Boot Camp “Rock the Block’’ social event Thursday evening.

The Boot Camp sessions will take place at the Kansas City Convention Center.

Registration is required for each Boot Camp session.

Advanced Boot Camp - March 3

This presentation will provide practical, real-world strategies for increasing retention and reducing turnover in the age of COVID-19.   • How To Manage People in Trying Times

Managing employees effectively is challenging enough without a pandemic! Employees are calling out sick, refusing to wear masks and don’t start with vaccine mandates! How To Manage People In Trying Times will be a practical and interactive presentation on how to navigate employee stress, conflicts between co-workers, and legal mandates while still running a business.   • How to Manage the Business

Learn from an experienced block producer on how to deal with supply chain shortages and how to manage product waste. This segment will address keeping track of raw material inventory and parts, strategies to determine what parts and repair items are essential and keeping them in stock so they’re readily accessible. The curriculum for the Basic Boot Camp will include interactive sessions that address the following topics:

  • Know the Raw Materials

Understand the basic materials that go into the production of our concrete masonry products: aggregates, cement, pozzolans (fly ash and slag), pigment and admixtures. Learn how each material works, which materials to use and how much of each to put in our mix designs. Speaker: Craig Walloch, Vice President – Technical Support and Education, ACM Chemistries, Inc.

  • Understand the Manufacturing Process and How I Can Affect the Product 

Understand the basic steps in the manufacturing process and the importance of having proper mix sequence, filling of the feed drawer and mold, compaction, curing and packaging. Learn about easy checks you can do on line and machine adjustments you can make to ensure you are making quality products.
